Medicines Information

There is a Medicines Information Centre in both of the large hospitals in the Trust. They are part of a national coordinated service that provides information on the use of medicines to both the medical professions (doctors, pharmacists, nurses etc), and to members of the general public.

Both of the centres provide

  • enquiry answering services,
  • support for prescribing support committees (including the Medicines Management Committee, Area Prescribing Committee, and PCT Prescribing Sub-committees),
  • information to prescribers in the form of bulletins
  • support for the introduction of new drugs into the Trust, and are actively involved in the development of the formulary, and the web-based formulary
  • coordination of adverse effect reporting
  • support for Local Research Ethics Committees, and support for clinical trials

Further information on the Medicines Information service in the Trust can be obtained from John Yorke (Calderdale Royal Hospital) or Nicola Roebuck (Huddersfield Royal Infirmary)
